Join us as a Principal Natural Environment Officer (Ecology) to help protect and enhance Lancashire’s natural environment. This role presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated people manager to be the County's strategic and technical lead for Lancashire's Local Environment Records Network (LERN) and the Biological Heritage Sites (BHS) team specialising in Ecology. You'll work alongside other principal officers within the Environment and Climate team to deliver the County Councils wider environmental strategy. As the Principal Natural Environment Officer, you will: Lead on data, monitoring and evidence overseeing BHS and LERN operations, budgets, and service agreements Support biodiversity reporting, planning, and policy development building strategic partnerships to promote ecological services. Provide specialist support and advice to senior managers, colleagues and customers What we're looking for: A developed understanding of ecological principals and issues Excellent data management and analytical skills including the ability to apply GIS principles Experience managing a team to deliver on service objectives within an agreed budget. We're looking for someone who can build on the success of the BHS and LERN teams, bringing innovation and new approaches to make a meaningful impact in Lancashire.
