About the Role
Chemonics seeks a Proposal Writer/Consultant Manager for an impact investment initiative that unlocks capital towards the SDGs in emerging and frontier markets. The Manager will support the incubation and growth of special projects within impact investing and sustainable finance, including proposal writing and delivery of impact investment advisory projects, business development, client engagement and project management.
Please note day rate is circa £300 per day or Hourly rate of circa £37.5 per hour
Initially this contract is for 6 months.
Key Responsibilities
Market Positioning and Business Development
* Conducts outreach and network development by engaging in industry events and collaborating with ecosystem players on joint events, webinars and reports
* Supports development of materials and events to improve positioning with Chemonics’ clients and within the industry and identifies opportunities to conduct billable assignments
* Travels periodically to explore new business opportunities. Interacts with key client and counterpart staff
Client Engagement
* Develops effective working relationships with internal and external clients, counterparts and stakeholders and continually promotes outstanding client service with corporate office staff and project teams
* Provides any relevant client insights
Technical
* Delivers high-quality project deliverables, which typically will include market studies, feasibility assessments and similar interventions
* Ensures project technical objectives are met in partnership with team lead and support staff
* Works with staff and consultants to ensure existing best practices and innovative methodologies are utilised in proposals and engagements
* Applies technical expertise to projects’ technical goals and objectives, new business efforts, projects and Chemonics knowledge base.
Project Management
* Supports and develops technical work products
* Collaborates closely with the team and directors in developing work plans, ensuring timely resources to execute plans, supervising progress, and reporting of implementation
Corporate Compliance
* Coordinates with the team and integrates compliance guidance into work planning and delivery
Key Capabilities
* Successful track record in proposal writing. Ideally, with experience in proposal development for either climate finance or impact investment
* Experience in the technical design of advisory engagements for corporate clients, ideally within either inclusive investment, social finance or climate finance
* Demonstrable experience in delivering impact investment or climate finance projects, project management experience preferred demonstrating leadership, versatility, and integrity
* Demonstrable experience of solving complex technical, managerial, or operational problems and evaluating options based on relevant information, resources, well-rounded experience, and knowledge.
* Demonstrable project delivery, strategy and decision-making skills.
* Able to operate at advanced levels of authority and controls significant activities, budgets, and resources to produce and take responsibility for results.
* Advanced knowledge and skills within a relevant technical or professional discipline with broad understanding of other areas within the job area.
* Conceptualises, outlines, performs, and directs the research and writing of technical documents (reports, proposals, professional articles).
* Previous experience working in or advising on either impact investment, blended finance or climate finance
* Demonstrable awareness of cultural sensitivity and an ability to manage with sensitivity to cultural differences and similarities.
* Able to lead effective meetings and also be able to present information confidently and authentically orally and in writing using multimedia.
* Ability to comply with corporate and client codes of conduct.
Education and Professional Skills
* Degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience required; advanced degree preferred.
