An exciting opportunity exists to join the Shotton Mill’s IT department as an IT Support Technician.
You will be a key member of the IT department responsible resolving technical and application issues for end users and providing assistance to more senior roles within the IT organization. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of our IT systems and supporting our manufacturing processes. Shotton Mill Limited (part of the Eren Holding group) is currently constructing the UK’s largest containerboard machine along with a tissue machine.
During 2025 we expect to be extending the current network to include the new buildings and some re-purposed buildings. We will also be continuing the process of integrating our IT systems with our head office in Istanbul and the other production sites in Corlu and Zonguldak, all based in Türkiye.
This position is located in Deeside, Flintshire, North Wales.
What you'll do:
Providing first-level technical support to end users, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
Responding to and resolving IT support requests via phone, email, or in-person.
Assisting in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems, printers, and other IT equipment.
Supporting end users with application issues, including ERP systems, manufacturing software, and other industry-specific applications.
Documenting and tracking all support requests and resolutions using the IT ticketing system.
Escalating complex issues to senior IT staff or external vendors as necessary.
Assisting in the development and implementation of IT policies and procedures.
Conducting user training sessions to improve IT literacy and promote best practices.
Participating in IT projects and initiatives as required.
Maintaining an inventory of IT assets and ensuring proper documentation.
Skills and Qualifications
~ Either Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field., and/or relevant proven experience in a technical support role, preferably within the manufacturing industry.
Knowledge and Experience
Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and common IT hardware and software.
Familiarity with ERP systems and manufacturing software is a plus.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Working on an 24x7 industrial site with the associated requirements and safety procedures.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions
You will initially be based within the project village on a site undergoing significant construction work. Once the new PM3 building is complete, we will be moving into a brand new facility.
At times you will be asked to work outside normal hours in order to avoid disruption to the business.
Some UK and international travel and/or remote support of other branches will be required to participate in the rebuild project and being part of the Eren Holding group.
