Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join our team at EA Construction (Scotland) Ltd. This is a fantastic opportunity to begin or further your career in quantity surveying, working alongside experienced professionals on a wide variety of infrastructure, civil, and residential projects. You will gain hands‑on experience in cost management, procurement, contract administration and contribute to projects that shape communities across Scotland.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and tender documentation
* Support measurement and valuation of works undertaken on site
* Assist with procurement activities, including subcontractor enquiries and comparisons
* Monitor and track project costs and variations
* Help prepare interim valuations, final accounts, and financial reports
* Maintain accurate records and documentation according to company procedures
* Attend site visits and meetings as required
* Collaborate closely with project managers, site teams, and senior surveyors
* Learn and apply relevant construction regulations, codes, and industry best practices
* Contribute to the successful financial delivery of projects
Requirements
Essential:
* Studying towards or recently completed a relevant qualification (e.g. HNC/HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management)
* Strong numeracy and analytical skills
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
* Eagerness to learn and develop a career in construction cost management
* Ability to work effectively in a team and under supervision
* Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
* Previous experience or a placement in a construction or surveying environment
* Familiarity with construction drawings and specifications
* Basic knowledge of standard contracts
