Duties And Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Health, Safety & Compliance Service Manager, take responsibility for the asbestos compliance function associated with all areas of work within SLHD, ensuring that SLHD meets all of its statutory and legal obligations in relation to asbestos safety and compliance.
To be SLHD's subject matter expert in relation to asbestos safety and compliance, providing technical advice, guidance training and support as required.
To ensure that all recommendations arising from asbestos surveying and inspections are completed to the required standards and on time.
* Oversee the effective day-to-day management of asbestos, ensuring safety and compliance;
* Support the Health, Safety & Compliance Manager in developing and implementing relevant asbestos strategies, plans and procedures;
* Manage the ongoing asbestos re-inspection programme, ensuring SLHD meets all of its requirements in relation to the Control of Asbestos Regulations (CAR) 2012 and all other relevant legislation;
* Ensure that all actions identified through asbestos re-inspections and surveys are addressed fully and on time;
* Work with regulatory and enforcing bodies as required;
* Support the Health, Safety & Compliance Manager and Head of Building Safety in investigating or responding to any asbestos related incidents as required;
* Effectively manage data and information relating to asbestos safety and compliance including recording all related and relevant inspections, assessments, testing, and remedial/removal works;
* Ensure all staff, including external contractors, are sufficiently competent and skilled in asbestos safety and compliance as appropriate to their role and remit;
* Be able to investigate and resolve any irregularities and non-compliance issues that may arise to a high standard;
* Develop safe systems of work, risk assessments, to ensure all unsafe work practices related to asbestos are eliminated from within the organisation;
* To identify and progress opportunities for continued service improvement in relation to asbestos safety and compliance;
* Translate strategy, policy and procedures relating to asbestos safety and compliance into objectives, KPIs, management information, and assist in production of report to boards and committees;
* Contribute towards the implementation and ongoing delivery of a comprehensive governance and performance monitoring framework for compliance safety;
* Develop and maintain a high level of personal expertise in asbestos safety
