Salisbury Pantry aims to go beyond the food bank model in creating a sustainable and long‑term solution to food poverty and work as a membership scheme. Our Salisbury Pantry shop is part of our Communities team. This role is a job share where responsibilities are shared with our existing manager. The role involves managing Wednesday pantry operations and working with the existing manager to manage membership and funder communications, manage, support and develop the volunteer team, develop and deliver promotion events as well as liaising with food donation partners and suppliers to ensure stock levels are maintained. There will be responsibility for maintaining our food hygiene standards and creating a welcoming and inclusive environment at the Pantry.
You will work to support the Head of Community Services to plan the long‑term development and sustainability of the Pantry.
Responsibilities
* Manage Wednesday pantry operations and support the existing manager in membership and funder communications
* Manage, support and develop the volunteer team; promote events and engage with the community
* Liaise with food donation partners and suppliers to maintain stock levels
* Maintain food hygiene standards and create a welcoming, inclusive environment at the Pantry
* Collaborate with the Head of Community Services on long‑term planning for the Pantry
* Deliver friendly and efficient service to stakeholders and members

Essential Criteria
* Experience in catering or a food retail environment
* Delivering quality customer care
* Experience as a manager or supervisor
* Working with and handling cash
* Proficiency with IT systems including Outlook, Word, Excel and databases
* Food Hygiene knowledge
* Ability to plan ahead for staffing and stock requirements
* Ability to keep accurate records in various formats (paper, Excel)
* Ability to work efficiently without direct supervision
* Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to work towards)
* Driving licence
* Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to quality customer service
* Positive attitude toward working with diverse groups
* Supportive attitude toward people on low incomes
* Flexible, with ability to undertake a variety of duties
* Willingness to work alone and as part of a small team
* Reliability and punctuality
* Reasonable physical fitness for deliveries and stock
