About The Role
Balfour Beatty Highways business has a terrific opportunity for a Procurement Manager to join our £1.2 billion Lower Thames Crossing project, which comprises 43 bridges, 17km of complex highway construction, viaducts, and a scheme-wide approach to carbon reduction. The role is part of the wider Procurement Function and will work closely with the LTC Project team to deliver the project's procurement strategy in line with contract requirements, business objectives, and industry best practices.
Responsibilities
* Ensure project requirements are met and that value contracts are negotiated to exceed targets.
* Produce and agree on project‑specific procurement strategies with internal and external stakeholders.
* Develop and implement individual package procurement plans to maintain supply security and optimise value.
* Lead the production of package ITTs and source information from all disciplines (operations, planning, design, quality).
* Run multi‑disciplinary sourcing teams through the ITT process using Balfour Beatty’s Jaggaer software.
* Facilitate negotiation of package‑specific terms and conditions with the Commercial team, agreeing where appropriate with wider business.
* Negotiate agreements that support on‑time delivery while meeting safety and sustainability requirements.
* Develop key relationships with stakeholders and strategic suppliers to drive business performance.
* Identify improvement areas and continuously drive performance and cost efficiency.
* Conduct business review meetings to assess risk, review future strategies, and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
* Provide periodic reporting on purchasing, controls, and processes to management.
* Educate managers and associates on procurement process control.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
* Relevant business degree or equivalent experience (e.g., MCIPS).
* Experience in a Procurement Management role, especially subcontract procurement.
* People‑management skills to deliver objectives while respecting team dynamics.
* Pragmatic, disciplined approach to process compliance.
* Track record of exceeding targets and delivering results.
* Stakeholder‑management and problem‑solving skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication.
* Knowledge of procurement ERP and e‑tendering systems (Oracle, Jaggaer, or similar).
* Supply chain management experience.
* Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
* Proven negotiation skills.
