Behaviour Support Worker

Location: Bedford, Bedfordshire (MK40 / MK41 / MK42)

Hours: Full-time (Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 15:30)

Environnent: SEN Specialist Provision (KS3 & KS4)

Are you a resilient, positive, and dedicated individual ready to support vulnerable young people? Teaching Personnel is looking for a confident Behaviour Support Worker to join an established specialist provision in Bedford.

This is more than just a classroom role; you will act as a mentor and guide for students aged 11–16 (Key Stage 3 and 4), helping them navigate social, emotional, and academic challenges. Your primary goal is to foster a safe, inclusive environment where students can either successfully re-integrate into mainstream education or build the essential skills needed for life beyond school.

Your Responsibilities

* Empower Learning: Work 1:1 or in small groups to drive positive academic engagement and emotional growth.
* Plan & Collaborate: Assist teaching staff in designing inclusive activities and developing tailored Individual Support Plans (ISPs).
* Behaviour Mentoring: Implement positive reinforcement and de-escalation strategies (such as Team Teach) to manage complex behaviours with empathy and professionalism.
* Track Progress: Carefully monitor and record student milestones, ensuring every "small win" is recognised and celebrated.
* Community Liaison: Act as a vital bridge between the school, parents, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student welfare.

Requirements

* Experience: A proven background working with children or young adults with SEND, SEMH, or significant behavioural challenges.
* Qualifications: Ideally Team Teach trained (though we highly encourage those willing to undergo training to apply).
* Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills and a natural ability to remain calm and collected under pressure.
* Compliance: * An Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).
o Full Right to Work in the UK and a minimum of 3 months UK residency.
o Overseas criminal clearance where applicable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
