Are you a strategic leader with a passion for research and innovation in public health, social care, and wider council services?

Stoke-on-Trent City Council, with financial support from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), is excited to offer the position of Local Authority Research Practitioner.

This unique role will leadand champion high-impact research programmes across public health, social care, and wider council services. It presents an excellent opportunity to drive evidence-based improvements and reduce health inequalities, making a real difference to the lives of communities across Stoke-on-Trent.

What you'll do:

Lead the development and delivery of a research strategy that helps us understand better the needs of our residents and how we respond to them. Promote a strong research culture across the Council and partner organisations that leads to high level interventions that really shifts outcomes for people Support colleagues with research design, governance, and funding applications that create programmes and projects of real impact. Drive evidence-based decision making to tackle local health challenges. Collaborate with academic, health, and community partners.

What you'll bring:

Experience in designing and delivering research (quantitative and qualitative). Strong understanding of research governance and funding processes. Expertise in public health and the wider determinants of health (e.g. housing, environment, social care). Proven system leadership and the ability to influence across sectors.
