3 Month Contract with A Local Authority
Job Purpose
To provide legal support to Legal Services Lincolnshire in delivering prosecution services on behalf of Lincolnshire County Council and partner district councils, with a primary focus on non-school attendance cases. The role also supports a wider range of local authority prosecutions and provides legal advice as required.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and progress non-school attendance prosecution cases from initial review through to court proceedings
* Prepare legal documentation, including case files, witness statements, and prosecution bundles
* Review evidence and provide clear, practical legal advice to client departments
* Represent the authority in court on an ad hoc basis, where required
* Support other local authority prosecution work as needed
* Ensure all work is conducted in line with relevant legislation, policies, and professional standards
* Maintain accurate records and case management data
Requirements
* Qualified Lawyer (Solicitor, Barrister, or equivalent) with relevant practising certificate
* Proven experience handling non-school attendance (education) prosecution cases (essential)
* Experience in local authority prosecutions or regulatory law
* Strong case management and organisational skills
* Ability to prepare cases for court and provide clear legal advice
* Ability to attend court and office locations on an ad hoc basis
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
