About the role
Together with the Faculty of Law, the Bodleian Law Library is situated in the St Cross Building on Manor Road. It is one of the largest libraries in the University and one of the leading academic law libraries in the UK.

You will lead the Law Library’s Academic Services team consisting of 18 staff, 10 of whom work outside core opening hours. You will manage the day-to-day operations of the library. You will work closely with colleagues to deliver training to law students particularly at the start of each academic year.

This is a permanent, full-time position, working 37.5 hours per week. The regular working pattern is Monday to Friday between 8:45 and 17:15. Assistance with evening duties between 17:00 and 19:00 will occasionally be required. Some bank holiday working is essential. This is an onsite-only post.

About You
You will be a qualified and experienced law librarian with a good knowledge of legal resources. A proven track record of managing staff and leading a team is essential. You must also be able to work collaboratively with a wide range of colleagues. You should have excellent written and oral communication skills and have experience of delivering training. Good organisational and project management skills are required.

What We Offer
The University offers a generous pension scheme. Annual leave is 38 days per year including bank holidays and University fixed closure days; there is an option to buy additional leave. More information is available at https://hr.admin.ox.ac.uk/staff-benefits

You will benefit from the Bodleian Law Library’s institutional membership of the British & Irish Association of Law Librarians (BIALL) and EU Databases User Group (EUDUG).

How to apply
You will be required to upload your CV and a supporting statement as part of your online application. Your supporting statement should list each of the essential and desirable selection criteria, as listed in the job description, and explain how you meet each one. Both documents must be submitted to be considered.

We aim to provide a supportive working environment and are happy to discuss training and professional development opportunities. The Chair of this recruitment panel will be Helen Garner, Bodleian Law Librarian, who can be contacted with enquiries relating to the role ( helen.garner@bodleian.ox.ac.uk). General queries about the recruitment and application process should be directed to the Recruitment team ( recruitment@glam.ox.ac.uk).

Only applications received online before 12:00 midday (BST) on 2nd July 2025 can be considered. Interviews are expected to take place during the week commencing 28th July 2025.
