Job Overview
Our Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division is a newer, fast‑growing part of the RAC. The role delivers planned, structured repair and servicing directly to members, with no emergency callouts, roadside recoveries or unpredictable shift patterns. You will work through a scheduled list of jobs, with the time, tools and support you need to produce quality work.
From day one you will have everything you need: a fully equipped RAC van, fuel card, uniform, a complete tool set and advanced diagnostic equipment. You will use your technical skill and problem‑solving ability to keep people moving safely and confidently.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform routine servicing and inspections.
* Carry out diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
* Execute in‑depth repairs that would normally be completed in a workshop.
* Provide member advice and recommendations based on your inspection.
* Conduct vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.
* Prepare for scheduled appointments and maintain clear communication with members.
Qualifications
* Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles.
* A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.
Benefits and Compensation
* Competitive base salary of £45,370 (inclusive of London Weighting Allowance, if applicable), with on‑target earnings up to £57,000.
* Guaranteed overtime option to increase your base salary to £44,385, plus additional overtime and bonus opportunities.
* 40 hours per week, core hours from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, 1 in 4 Saturdays.
