About the Role
The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) is a statutory body consisting of the ten local authorities of Greater Manchester and a directly elected Mayor. It has wide-ranging economic development, regeneration and transport functions and an ambitious agenda to make Greater Manchester a better place in which to grow up, live, work and invest. A Graduate Planner appointment is being sought to support Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM).
What you'll be involved in
* Support the integration of transport and land use planning, regeneration and environmental objectives across a range of strategy, policy and project work.
* Assist scoping, developing and communicating transport projects that strengthen the region's transport and place making ambitions.
* Work closely with local authorities, partners and stakeholders to shape investment priorities and influence regional and national transport policy.
* Contribute to research, evidence gathering and collaborative project work that helps maintain GM’s reputation as an innovative, forward‑thinking city region.

Qualifications and Desired Skills
* Graduate in a relevant discipline.
* A genuine interest in transport planning, placemaking and how people live in and move through the built environment.
* Awareness of contemporary transport and land use planning issues, and enthusiasm to develop your understanding of local and national policy.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work well with colleagues and partners.
* Curiosity, initiative and a commitment to learning, problem solving and helping to create better, more sustainable places.
* Excellence in: working with others, persuasive communication, delivering outcomes, analysis and problem solving, personal resilience, leadership potential, commercial awareness, ICT skills.

Over the two years of the programme, you will be supported to take part in a range of Learning and Development opportunities which will contribute to meeting the needs of the authority, our local community and the region.
