Full-Time SEMH Teaching Assistant – PR4 Area
Start Date: September | Contract: Full-Time | Location: PR4 Kirlham

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a supportive Primary School in the PR4 area, who are looking to appoint a dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant from September.

This is a full-time role, ideal for someone passionate about making a real difference in children’s lives—particularly those who require additional emotional and behavioural support.


The Role:

* Supporting pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis or in small groups

* Implementing strategies to support behaviour, emotional regulation, and social interaction

* Working closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, and external professionals

* Supporting pupils both in the classroom and during unstructured times such as break and lunch


The Ideal Candidate:

* Previous experience working with children with SEMH, behavioural challenges or trauma-informed practice

* Calm, patient and resilient with a nurturing approach

* Able to build strong, positive relationships with pupils

* Confident in implementing behaviour plans and emotional support strategies

* Team player who is flexible and willing to get involved in all aspects of school life


Requirements:

* A relevant TA qualification or experience in a similar setting is desirable

* Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service (or willing to apply for one)

* Able to commit to a full-time role from September 2025
