Are you an experienced licensing professional ready to take the lead in a dynamic regulatory environment? We are seeking a highly motivated individual to head up our Licensing function, playing a key role in protecting public safety and supporting thriving, compliant businesses within our community.
Working within the wider Environmental Health and Community Safety service, you will lead the Council’s licensing function, ensuring the effective delivery of statutory duties and enforcement responsibilities across a broad range of licensing regimes. These include the Licensing Act 2003, Gambling Act 2005, taxi and private hire, animal licensing, and other regulatory areas.
You will provide strong operational leadership, oversee the processing of applications, compliance and enforcement activities, and ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, customer-focused service.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead the Licensing service
2. Provide expert advice on licensing legislation and complex cases
3. Oversee applications, compliance, and enforcement
4. Develop and review policies, procedures, and strategies
5. Support Licensing Committee hearings and decision-making
6. Work with partners to promote public safety and support lawful business
