Your new company
Hays are seeking a qualified and experienced Chartered Accountant to join our client's general accountancy practice. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a wide range of accounting, tax, and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients, including sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
Your new role
Key Responsibilities:
1. Accounts Preparation: Prepare statutory accounts in accordance with UK GAAP and FRS 102 for a variety of clients.
2. Tax compliance: Prepare and review personal and corporate tax returns, VAT returns, and liaise with HMRC as required.
3. Client Advisory: Provide proactive advice on tax planning, business structuring, and financial performance.
4. Audit (if applicable): Participate in or lead audit assignments for small to medium-sized enterprises.
5. Bookkeeping & Management Accounts: Oversee or assist with bookkeeping, payroll, and preparation of monthly/quarterly management accounts.
6. Software Proficiency: Use of accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, and IRIS.
7. Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring high levels of service and satisfaction.
8. Team Collaboration: Support junior staff with training and development, and contribute to a positive team environment.
What you'll need to succeed
Qualifications & Experience:
1. ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
2. Minimum 3 years’ experience in a general practice environment
3. Strong technical knowledge of UK accounting and tax regulations
4. Experience with cloud-based accounting systems
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable Attributes:
1. Experience with audit work (if applicable)
2. Ability to manage multiple client deadlines
3. Willingness to contribute to business development initiatives
