Overview
The Urology unit is looking for a caring, compassionate and motivated individual to join our team of Consultants, Doctors, Nurses and admin staff. We provide care for a variety of patients and work closely as a team across the bay to ensure all patients receive exceptional care. We welcome all applicants who feel they have the right attributes to enhance the team and contribute positively towards the Urology department, as well as being a keen team player. The main duties of the role include performing independent Urodynamic studies, leading the Urology out-patient clinics and supporting patients in their outpatient pathway. Staff must be willing to learn new skills to enhance their own development and benefit the department. The role requires the ability to communicate and empathise with people living with urological conditions, and to be compassionate in sensitive situations. The following outlines the main duties:
Responsibilities
* Leading the smooth running of out-patient clinics
* Being the lead registered nurse on site
* Responsibility for audits and health and safety
* Communication and emotional support of the patient
* Leading a one stop clinic by navigating the patients through tests and procedures
* Supporting senior clinicians with their independent clinics
* Utilising trust IT systems
* Performing clinical skills with suitable training, such as assisting a flexible cystoscopy lists, independent catheter clinics, precision point biopsy, Urodynamics clinics, ISC
* Responsibility and training of junior staff, both RN's and CSW's, including management responsibilities
* Ability to move with the demands of the service
* Providing advice and guidance for patients and healthcare professionals
Context
We are fortunate to have a diverse group of nurses, doctors and support staff who all work together to promote the NHS trust values. We operate from three main hospitals (Furness General Hospital in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, and Westmorland General Hospital in Kendal), as well as community premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services with Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, an Urgent Treatment Centre, and services for non-life threatening conditions. All three main hospitals provide planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery, and local outreach services and diagnostics across Morecambe Bay.
