We are recruiting for a Nurse Team Leader - 11A Respiratory who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
You will be expected to demonstrate good effective leadership styles and be effective in managing teams, as well as ensuring that all patient quality indicators are achieved as well as providing support in a very busy multi-disciplinary environment to staff in order for them to obtain there competencies along with the relevant skills.
Provide excellent shift leadership and management of the designated ward/department when on duty, and lead a team of staff, in order to carry out delivery of care to a complex group of patients.
You will work collaboratively with the senior team in respiratory to deliver effective high quality safe patient centered care and will, when required, rotate between the respiratory support Unit and the ward as service needs dictate to gain invaluable experience participating in the respiratory environment.

Main duties of the job
You will support the continuing education, training and professional development for the respiratory staff, to promote the acquisition of new skills and knowledge ensuring that nursing staff acquire and maintain the professional standards and competencies when caring for people.
Act as a role model and provide supervision and leadership to nursing staff under the guidance of the Senior Sister/Charge Nurses ensuring high standards of patient care at all times challenging and ensuring others challenge poor practise.
You will act at all times to promote a positive of the Trust and as such may need to represent the Sister/Charge Nurse with key stakeholders to promote this.

Person specification
Qualifications/Training
Essential criteria
* Registered nurse on part 1 or 12 of the NMC register
* Mentorship and preceptorship qualification or equivalent
* Appropriate post registration course relevant to respiratory
* Evidence of continued professional development in relevant areas of specialty
Desirable criteria
* Working towards a degree at higher level
* Leadership qualification
Previous Experience
Essential criteria
* Extensive clinical and managerial experience within the field of respiratory nursing at Senior Staff Nurse level
* Current working knowledge and skills within a high dependency or critical care area
* Current experience working in respiratory assisting with NIV supporting recovery of patients following NIV, Optiflow and airway management
Desirable criteria
* Evidence of or willingness to undertake conference presentations.
* Experience in change management
* Experience of nursing within an acute clinical setting
* Experience in managing a ward/department, including management of staff, Rota, staff competencies, resources
Skills
Essential criteria
* Effective shift leadership ability
* Ability to deliver multidisciplinary education at department level and to assess at degree level.
* An effective communicator - Leadership to drive quality of care within the multidisciplinary team.
* Organisational skills - Evidence of team management skills
* Ability to prioritise own workload and that of others.
* Computer literate
* Ability to perform peripheral cannulation and venapuncture.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Ability to work with all staff on a multi professional level, demonstrating up to date knowledge of practice development within respiratory nursing.
* Evidence of professional development and a proven commitment to respiratory nursing
* Broad knowledge of respiratory care and the management of respiratory conditions
* Good understanding of good quality patient care and patient safety.
