We are seeking an experienced Senior Billing Administrator (Medical) to oversee billing, bookkeeping, and financial administration for our medical consultants. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that consultant practices are financially well-managed, billing is accurate and timely, and all remittances are reconciled efficiently.
This role is for someone with proven experience in medical billing. Applications without healthcare billing experience or without AAT Level 2 (minimum) will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
* Raise and issue invoices for clinics and theatre lists within agreed timescales.
* Reconcile remittances from private medical insurance companies and hospitals.
* Manage patient billing queries, ensuring all issues are resolved professionally and promptly.
* Maintain accurate financial records, ledgers, and reconciliation reports.
* Work with consultants and management to provide clear financial insights.
* Support credit control processes, ensuring outstanding balances are followed up.
* Assist with bookkeeping duties, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
* Provide guidance and support to junior billing/administration staff.
Essential Requirements
* AAT Level 2 (minimum) — applications without this will be rejected.
* Proven experience in healthcare billing (essential).
* Strong bookkeeping knowledge and understanding of financial reconciliations.
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
* Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to manage multiple consultant accounts simultaneously.
Desirable
* AAT Level 3 or above.
* Familiarity with private medical insurers and platforms such as Healthcode.
* Previous experience in a senior or supervisory billing role.
