Senior Project Manager / Associate JD (Newcastle / Stockton-on-Tees) 2025

The AtkinsRéalis Infrastructure Project Delivery Practice (PDP) is the centre of excellence for the delivery of infrastructure projects, combining project management and design management to provide comprehensive services to clients across the public and private sectors. The team manages design services in Water Infrastructure, Defence Infrastructure, Nuclear, Aviation, Energy, Rail (stations), and Urban Developments.

We are offering an exciting opportunity within the Infrastructure PDP for a Senior Project Manager / Associate to join our North, Scotland, and Northern Ireland (NS&NI) practice, based in Newcastle or Stockton-on-Tees. This role is ideal for someone ready to take the next step in their career, responsible for delivering projects from inception to completion. The position involves a hybrid working model, combining office work with client site visits.

Working within the Infrastructure PDP, you'll have the chance to engage with a diverse portfolio of projects nationally and internationally, including commercial, residential, nuclear, defence, and D&B projects, allowing you to develop and showcase your project management skills.

Ideal candidates will have several years of experience in multi-disciplinary infrastructure project delivery, preferably within a consultancy, and will be responsible for leading major projects through all phases from concept to handover.

This role offers the opportunity to grow within a renowned international consultancy, working on a variety of projects that demonstrate and further develop your talents and skills.

Key responsibilities include:

* Delivering projects within scope, time, budget, and quality targets.
* Setting project objectives and developing strategies for achievement.
* Managing contractual and commercial risks and identifying opportunities.
* Leading and motivating project teams, fostering collaboration, and guiding problem-solving.
* Ensuring effective communication with clients, teams, subcontractors, and partners.
* Coordinating with global teams and managing project delivery plans.
* Maintaining financial health of projects through accurate invoicing, credit control, and risk management, including Earned Value reporting.
* Closing projects effectively, archiving documentation, capturing lessons learned, and ensuring client satisfaction.

Minimum requirements:

* Chartered Engineer/Architect/Project Manager or equivalent with experience in large infrastructure projects.
* Recognized level of competence in Project Management (e.g., APM PMQ) is desirable.
* Experience across various market sectors and familiarity with different construction contracts, especially NEC3 or 4.
* Proven ability to manage design projects to scope, time, and cost, with knowledge of programming and earned value techniques.
* Experience with BIM and 3D modelling tools for design and coordination.
* Strong client relationship skills and understanding of assurance and compliance principles.
* Ability to identify growth opportunities and adapt in dynamic environments.
* Self-motivated, capable of working independently and within teams, with leadership qualities.
* Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, with a collaborative approach.
* Willingness to travel within the UK and work onsite as needed.
