Role Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and motivated Junior Buyer to join our Procurement & Supply Chain team. This role is ideal for someone looking to develop a career in procurement within the construction and building services industry. The Junior Buyer will support the Procurement & Supply Chain Manager in sourcing, purchasing, and delivering materials, plant, and subcontractor services to support project delivery. You will assist in managing supplier data, pricing records, and purchasing documentation, learn negotiation skills, and contribute to continuous improvement within the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
1. Tender Support / Pre-Contract Activities: Assist the Estimating Team by obtaining competitive quotes, gathering and evaluating prices, and supporting bid submissions.
2. Procurement & Purchasing (Post-Contract): Raise purchase orders, liaise with project teams, and ensure materials and services meet budget, quality, and delivery expectations.
3. Supplier & Subcontractor Support: Onboard new suppliers/subcontractors, maintain the Approved Supplier List, evaluate supplier performance, and assist in negotiations.
4. Pricing & Data Management: Update supplier pricing, compare quotes, track costs, and monitor rebate agreements.
5. Stores, Plant, and Transport Support: Manage stock levels, assist with stock takes, and record data accurately.
6. Reporting, Administration & Compliance: Maintain procurement records, resolve invoice queries, support reporting, and ensure IMS compliance. Contribute to process improvements.
Experience & Education
Previous experience in procurement, supply chain, or administration is beneficial. Experience in construction or working with subcontractors is desirable. A relevant qualification is advantageous but not essential.
