This post involves responsibility for a wide range of activities and, as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the appointee will be expected to contribute fully to the formulation and implementation of school strategies and policies. The postholder is responsible to the Headmaster for managing and leading the School’s provision for curriculum management, timetabling, assessment and reporting, and events management and organisation. In addition to the general duties set out in the full job description (see information pack on website), this work includes responsibility for: management of the curriculum to meet all statutory requirements; leading the team of Heads of Department on curriculum matters; managing and communicating assessment and reporting cycles to pupils, staff and parents; and overseeing school events and organisation to enhance the school’s reputation and bring about opportunities for pupil participation in school life. The Development Office supports some elements of administration and delivery across these areas of responsibility. The description of duties is a guideline to the main aspects of the post. It may be amended from time to time to reflect the changing needs of the School. The discharge of Vice Principal duties will involve attendance in the School outside normal teaching hours. There will also be a requirement to be in attendance in the month of August when examination results are processed and preparations are made for the new academic year ahead.
