Newport Pagnell Medical Centre is looking to welcome an experienced and qualified phlebotomist into our busy practice to cover a maternity contract for between 6-12 months. This position is offered on a part-time basis for 22 hours per week to work mornings. Supporting the lead nurse, the post-holder will be responsible for performing tasks to include: Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample Working strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the post-holder will be responsible for performing venepuncture to obtain blood samples from patients B e accurate when taking blood samples, verifying patient details and test request on request form and recording on patient record Ensuring samples are stored in appropriate containers When performing venepuncture, physical, social and emotional care should be taken into consideration R ecognise and report situations where there might be a need for protection Responsible for monitoring own standards with clinical team in order to ensure that consistently high quality samples are taken Maintain confidentiality at all times Participate in further training and to maintain a commitment to professional development as needed Monitor and maintain health, safety and security of self and others Contribute to the improvement of services Please see job description attached for more information. About the Candidate If you are an experienced phlebotomist looking for a new challenge, we would love to hear from you.
