What you will do
We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Apprentice Instructor based at our Apprentice Training Academy in Port Talbot. The role will involve covering all South Wales sites for training delivery. Instructors are subject matter experts responsible for designing, delivering, assessing, and evaluating high-impact learning events (either directly or via third parties).
You will work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure training approaches are efficient, effective, and meet business and national qualification standards, ensuring a transfer of learning with optimal training investment return. Within the Apprentice Training team, you will support and guide learners, provide a positive learning experience, and ensure team KPIs are met. You will also be responsible for delivering and assessing National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ).
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Ensuring all safety, health, and environment requirements are fully met according to Tata and relevant regulatory bodies.
* Becoming an expert in legislation and best practices in the field.
* Maintaining knowledge of relevant Safety, Health & Environment Standards.
* Designing training materials aligned with functional frameworks and national standards.
* Maintaining and improving training facilities, equipment, and materials.
* Delivering training effectively, adapting techniques to learners.
* Understanding external accreditation requirements and assessing candidate competence.
* Communicating training outcomes to learners and managers.
What you will need
* Minimum 5 years of machine workshop experience (lathe/miller).
* Completion of a time-served apprenticeship.
* Experience operating and training on mechanical workshop machines.
* Educated to HNC/HND level.
* Plant knowledge and understanding of the education system.
* Ability to deliver mechanical courses on topics such as pumps, gearboxes, shaft alignment, and basic fitting.
* Train the Trainer qualification.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with SAP and People Link.
* Understanding of competency processes and NVQ levels 2-4.
* NVQ assessor TAQA trained or equivalent.
