Job Title: Team Leader (Machine Shop CNC)

Key Responsibilities
* Lead, encourage and motivate team members in accordance with specifications, procedures and quality standards relevant to their roles.
* Provide leadership and supervision; support staff development through training, mentoring and regular one-to-one meetings and appraisals to achieve high performance and compliance.
* Ensure high quality standards are reinforced and maintained; manufacture products to meet customer delivery dates in a timely manner.
* Demonstrate our values daily and support a strong safety culture across the Aflex team.
* Lead health, safety and environmental (EH&S) responsibilities, including daily safety checks, weekly safe behaviour audits, and monthly EH&S updates.
* Report near misses, close out EH&S concerns with Department Leader, and ensure compliance with regulatory EH&S requirements.
* Maintain awareness and involvement of personnel in environmental, safety, health and ergonomic improvement processes.
* Manage shift start up/end meetings, downtime analysis, production plans and KPI targets; review and countermeasure non-conformances and downtime.
* Provide training and mentoring for operators and apprentices; manage attendance, lateness, absences and return-to-work processes; address disciplinary issues per policy.
* Conduct performance reviews and regular 1-2-1 meetings; assign team responsibilities and support induction for new employees.
* Support recruitment, shift handovers, SOP creation, scrap monitoring, and continuous improvement activities using root cause analysis and RCCA as required.
* Collaborate with maintenance, facilities and quality teams; ensure correct quality controls and timely escalations for issues.
* Promote 6S activities and ensure compliance with master production schedule and customer requirements.
Qualifications and Skills
* Experience in Lean manufacturing; Yellow Belt or higher preferred.
* Experience in NEBOSH, COSHH or IOSH environments; 5S/6S knowledge.
* Ability to investigate non-conformance and perform root cause analysis; proven leadership and people-management skills.
* Resilient, able to work under pressure; effective communication across diverse teams.
* Apprentice training completion (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 4 or equivalent) or ILM/NVQ 4 in managing people (or active towards); IOSH Managing Safely.
* IT skills: Excel and Word; able to manage documentation and SOPs.
