Job Description
MacKenzie King are excited to be recruiting a Financial Controller for a growing SME, based on the outskirts of Bury St Edmunds. The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial management of the business, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting, and timely insight to support decision-making.
Key tasks and responsibilities

* Prepare timely and accurate monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow.
\t
* Produce annual statutory accounts and act as the main point of contact for external accountants and auditors.
\t
* Develop and maintain financial models, forecasts, and budgets.
\t
* Provide financial analysis and commentary to support commercial and strategic decisions.
\t
* Manage cash flow forecasting and daily cash management.
\t
* Oversee credit control, billing, and supplier payments.
\t
* Design, implement, and maintain strong financial controls and processes.
\t
* Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and tax requirements.
\t
* Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
\t
* Drive continuous improvement in finance processes, efficiency, and automation.
\t
* Support system implementations or upgrades as required.
\t
* Manage, mentor, and develop the finance team.
\t
* Partner with senior management and department heads to provide financial insight.
Qualifications and experience
\t
* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or qualified by experience.
\t
* Proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role, ideally within an SME.
\t
* Strong technical accounting knowledge and financial reporting skills.
\t
* Excellent Excel and systems capabilities.
\t
* Commercially minded with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
\t
* Hands-on, adaptable, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment.
