Altrad are currently on the lookout for a Technical Apprentice which will involve an element of academic work with a clear path to becoming a qualified technician within the Altrad Babcock Asset Management team. \n\nKey Deliverables:\n\nAttend college classes and examinations/assessments when required\nUndertake technical activities under the supervision of senior staff\nAdopt Altrad safety culture in all aspects of working life\nMaintain personal log book/portfolio to meet requirements of Modern Apprenticeship\nSupport senior staff in the execution of project work as required\nMeet personal development plans and targets required to follow Technical Apprentice training scheme\nAttain SVQ2 â Performing Engineering Operations in year 1\nAttain HNC â Mechanical Engineering in year 1\nMaintain personal log book/portfolio for SVQ3 (Years 2-3) to meet requirements of Modern Apprenticeship\nTo support senior staff undertaking technical duties at base and/or site as required\nTo meet all health & safety requirements of any work being undertaken Year1\n\nInitial training, approximately 9 months full time at Glasgow Clyde College - Anniesland Campus (August â June)\nCompletion of SVQ Level 2 â Performing Engineering Operations (introduction to the practical aspects of Engineering)\nHNC Mechanical Engineering\nYear 2\n\nOn the job training â Renfrew based\nMentored placements throughout business\nRequirement to meet specific competencies\nRegular reviews by external accreditation/training body\nMajority of placements based in Renfrew\nOpportunity for national placements\n\n\nPlacements in the following disciplines/areas\nNon Destructive Testing (NDT)\nManufacturing, Testing & Equipment Qualification\nIntegrity Engineering\nMetallurgy and Welding\nFurther Education\nYear 3\n\nCompletion of Modern Apprenticeship and progress to Assistant Technician\nContinue Further Education in relevant subject area-Engineering/NDT/Metallurgy (Foundation Degree level)\nFully funded and supported by Altrad Babcock\nProgress to Technician level upon successful completion of Foundation Degree\n Key Requirements:\n\n2 Highers / A levels at A-Cfrom Maths (Mandatory), Physics (preferred), Chemistry, English, Graphical Communications or other Technical subject (s) (Achieved or Expected)\nPreferred, Maths/Physics/English\nBtech Level 3 National Diploma in Engineering
