Role: Lead Quality Engineer (Customer Facing)
Industry: Electronics & Mechanical Manufacturing
Location: Stevenage (Onsite for first 6 months)
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
Why This Role Exists
This position has been shaped by a highly capable predecessor who delivered significant impact across Quality Assurance, internal auditing, supplier quality, and 3PL operations. The bar is high and that’s a good thing. You’ll be stepping into a role with clear foundations, strong processes, and the opportunity to elevate quality performance even further.
The previous postholder:
• Led over 50% of all internal audits after completing the NQA ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor course
• Created and maintained procedures, processes, work instructions and records aligned to ISO & AS standards
• Held sole responsibility for all quality matters within the 3PL division, now a major growth area
• Managed non-conformances, containment actions, and root cause analysis using 8D, Fishbone, and 5-Why
• Produced and presented KPIs, CI plans, and gap analyses to Directors and customers
• Reviewed and approved Inspection Reports and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs)
• Delivered training on AS6081 and mentored inspectors across non-traceable processes
• Interpreted technical drawings, wiring looms, engineering drawings, and datasheets
This gives you a clear picture of the capability level we’re looking for and the scope you’ll inherit.
