As a Garment Technologist, you'll work within the ASOS Technical team, reporting to the Head of Technical. This role requires collaboration with teams across Buying, Merchandising, Design, Digital, and Fabric. You should be self-motivated and capable of taking ownership of your responsibilities.
Key skills include technical expertise, organizational and analytical skills, good time management, and the ability to prioritize in a busy environment.
The ASOS Technical team focuses on achieving high product quality, fit, and value. They work closely with buying, merchandising, design, and ethical departments to ensure products look their best and meet standards. A desire to improve quality and fit, ability to work within a diverse team, and quick thinking in a fast-paced environment are essential.
Responsibilities include:
1. Collaborating with various teams and suppliers, utilizing knowledge of fitting, manufacturing processes, and costings.
2. Supporting the Head of category to meet KPIs, including right first time sealing hit rate.
3. Working with Design and Buying teams to achieve accurate samples and improve sealing rates.
4. Owning the fit and sealing process, implementing virtual fitting via Optitex, and engaging suppliers and buyers in the process.
5. Ensuring core fabrics are scanned into the Optitex fabric library and selected during design.
6. Keeping up-to-date with Optitex software upgrades and managing the virtual fit process.
7. Assessing product quality standards and production issues, including safety, wear trials, and performance.
8. Maintaining accurate technical data on the supplier Extranet.
9. Ensuring correct fabric and block references during design briefs.
10. Supporting supplier self-approval standards and liaising with QC auditors to prevent shipment delays.
