Job Description
General Cover Teacher – SEMH School
Chatham Start: After Easter – July Full-time temporary role
Are you the kind of teacher who can turn a quiet Tuesday into a “Wow, that was actually fun!” kind of day? Do you thrive on variety, challenge, and those brilliant lightbulb moments? If so, this SEMH school in Chatham wants you!
A welcoming and nurturing SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) secondary school is looking for an adaptable, engaging General Cover Teacher to join their team after Easter and stay until July.
What the role involves:
* Stepping into different classrooms across the school — every day brings something new!
* Delivering engaging lessons across a range of subjects (don’t worry, you’ll have plenty of support).
* Building strong, positive relationships with students who benefit from consistency, patience, and encouragement.
* Bringing calm, confidence, and a good sense of humour to the classroom.
They’re looking for someone who:
* Is flexible, resilient, and ready to embrace the unexpected.
* Has experience with SEMH needs — or is keen to develop their skills in this rewarding environment.
* Can build rapport quickly and create a safe, supportive learning space.
* Brings positivity, teamwork, and a “let’s make it work” attitude.
What you’ll get in return:
* A genuinely rewarding role where every small win is celebrated.
* A supportive team that values collaboration, care, and good vibes.
* A chance to make a meaningful difference to young people who need it most.
* Great experience for anyone wanting to grow in SEMH or SEN settings.
