We have a fantastic opportunity for a Flood Risk Consultant to join our thriving Water Environment team within our Birmingham office.
This is an excellent opportunity to join an established team, lead models on a range of projects locally and nationally, while mentoring and developing other consultants in the business.
The role requires developing relationships with clients and regulators, as well as managing varied and challenging projects.
What will you be responsible for?
1. Working within a growing multi-disciplinary consultancy, operating across a matrix of projects.
2. Work winning, budgetary control of project finances, preparing fee proposals, and developing the Water & Environment Team in this region.
3. Working in a design office environment, and actively participating in design and site meetings, inspections, and progress reporting.
4. Good communication and liaison with clients, architects, contractors, and regulatory/statutory authorities.
5. Hydrological and hydraulic modelling.
6. Bid preparation and fee proposals.
7. Research and business development of potential new clients.
8. Attending client and regulatory meetings.
You’ll be set up for success if you have:
* A strong Bachelor's degree, possibly a higher degree in a water-related subject, combined with well-established consultancy or industry experience as a senior modeler.
* Substantial experience in flood risk assessments in accordance with NPPF (and/or TAN 15), with a primary focus on hydrological and hydraulic modelling, often using Flood Modeler Pro or TUFLOW.
* A good understanding of the workings of the Environment Agency (and Natural Resources Wales) and Lead Local Flood Authorities, along with up-to-date knowledge of current planning policies and procedures.
* High motivation for this specific opportunity.
* Self-motivated team player with exceptional people skills.
* Ability to work independently while coordinating with line manager’s requirements.
* An understanding of the developer industry would be advantageous.
