We’re seeking a highly skilled Infrastructure Engineer to lead the organisation’s migration from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 and to help build a secure, modern, and collaborative digital environment for staff and pupils.
About the Role
In this autonomous and high‑impact position, you will be the technical lead for a full Microsoft 365 modern workplace migration. You’ll be responsible for designing, delivering, and optimising the new environment—ensuring it meets the highest standards of security, compliance, performance, and user experience.
You’ll oversee every stage of the migration, including email, file storage, calendars, and collaboration tools. From creating comprehensive documentation and runbooks to delivering training materials for staff, you’ll ensure the transition is smooth, well‑communicated, and aligned with project goals.
As the technical escalation point for Microsoft 365, you’ll support both the IT Services team and end‑users, offering expert troubleshooting and guidance. You will also collaborate with stakeholders across the College—shaping best‑practice, advising on modern workplace solutions, and ensuring the digital environment empowers staff, pupils, and teaching teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the full migration from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365—covering email, file storage, calendaring, and collaboration tools.
* Develop and maintain documentation, migration runbooks, and training resources.
* Design and configure the M365 environment in line with robust security, governance, and compliance requirements.
* Identify risks early, troubleshoot issues proactively, and implement practical, scalable solutions.
Microsoft 365 Administration
* Configure, manage, and optimise services including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Intune, Entra, and Microsoft Defender.
* Monitor performance, security, and compliance across the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
* Ensure operational processes are well‑documented and followed by the wider IT team.
* Act as the escalation point for complex Microsoft 365 issues.
* Provide expert troubleshooting and guidance for both IT colleagues and end‑users.
What We’re Looking For
* Strong hands‑on experience across the Microsoft 365 suite: Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Intune, Entra/Azure AD.
* Proven success delivering mid‑ to large‑scale IT projects, particularly cloud migrations.
* Experience migrating environments between cloud providers or from on‑premises to cloud.
* Excellent troubleshooting capabilities and a pragmatic problem‑solving approach.
* Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to stay calm under pressure and navigate shifting priorities.
* Clear, confident communication skills with the ability to engage users of all technical levels.
