About the role
The Rigging Technical Director's primary responsibility in Framestore's Pre-Production Service division is to design, build and maintain highly versatile and efficient character rigging systems and animation interfaces.
What you'll do
* Design, build and refine a vast variety of rigs across a wide range of projects through the animation pipeline.
* Develops tools to optimize animation and rigging workflows and maintain the documentation accordingly.
* Works closely with Supervisors and Previs Artists to ensure the rigs meet show requests and needs while assuring full compatibility with the Film division.
* Comply with pipeline and rigging company standards, participating in the design and development of the rigging and animation toolset.
* Will be required to work across, Previs, Postvis, Real-Time and Virtual Production.
Requirements
* Maya rigging (full body/facial).
* Experience with full scripted modular or functional rigging.
* Experience with real time engines (Unreal engine or similar)
* Python, GUI scripting and the ability to follow strict coding standards.
* The ability to write technical documentation and present your work (wiki, screen cap etc.).
* Strong organisational and communication skills.
* Teamwork, communication and time management skills.
* Understanding of best practices to deliver optimised performance.
* A passion for creating believable CG characters and the requisite attention to detail.
* Analytical and artistic skills, creativity and visual problem solving.
You might also have
* Experience with body or facial motion capture systems: rig hookups, offset rigs, re-targeting etc.
* Familiarity with bug tracking software ( Jira, Redmine, etc) and agile methodologies.
