Recreation Worker/Activation Therapist
Health Services – Long Term Care
Two - Regular Part Time opportunity - No Guarantee of hours
Salary Range: $31.99- $33.94 (plus 14% in lieu of benefits)
Hours of Work: No guarantee of hours - various shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and stats

Staff should have emotional intelligence to deliver authentic, meaningful care to residents and their families.
What you will do in this role:
* Assist the Activation Department in formulating, implementing, evaluating, and modifying therapeutic modalities to meet residents' needs.
* Implement programs that enhance self-esteem and self-worth, such as reminiscing and current events.
* Conduct assessments of residents’ recreation and leisure needs.
* Coordinate outreach services and assist with restorative care programs.
* Maintain good relationships and effective communication with residents, staff, volunteers, and visitors.
* Attend training sessions, staff meetings, and workshops as directed.
* Maintain records according to policies, procedures, and standards.
What the Role Requires:
* Two-year Diploma in Activation or Recreation Therapy from a recognized institution.
* Valid CPR/First Aid certification.
* At least one year of experience in a long-term care setting preferred.
* Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Skills/Abilities:
* Teaching skills to guide residents and families.
* Organizational skills for prioritizing and scheduling.
* Ability to work independently, innovate, and organize programming.
* Effective oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to communicate appropriately with all stakeholders.
* Possession of a Class “F” driver’s license if driving is required.
* Proficient computer skills.
* Physical ability to perform all duties.

Interview process will be conducted via video conference. Successful candidates must provide a Vulnerable Sector Police Check and TB Skin Testing at their own expense.
