Semi‑Skilled Operative – Facilities Management
We are looking for an enthusiastic, problem‑solving individual with building maintenance experience, including minor plumbing, carpentry and ground works. A major part of this position will be to undertake inspections and minor repairs of 96 play areas throughout the East Suffolk District using a handheld tablet with bespoke user‑friendly software. You will also form part of the ESSL emergency response team involved in flood prevention, winter gritting and working in conjunction with the Maritime and Coast Guard Agency to respond to coastal pollution incidents. A good understanding of Health and Safety and a flexible, dynamic approach is essential as you will encounter challenges and are unlikely to have the same day twice. Lots of training and support will be provided, to enable you to thrive and create a path for future progression within the Team.
Responsibilities
 * Maintain and repair 96 play areas across the district.
 * Use handheld tablet to record inspections and repairs.
 * Support the ESSL emergency response team for flood prevention and winter gritting.
 * Assist Maritime and Coast Guard Agency in coastal pollution incidents.
 * Maintain high standards of health and safety.
What you will need
 * Experience of the building trade, with demonstrable ability to complete a wide range of maintenance duties.
 * A full driving licence.
 * NVQ Level 2 in a building trade desirable or extensive relevant experience.
