If you’re a detail-focused, mechanically minded engineer with a passion for engines – this is the role for you.
We’re working with a prestigious engineering business based in Waterlooville that’s known for excellence in vintage, classic, and historic motorsport engine building. Due to continued demand, they’re looking to add to their skilled team of 5 engine builders.
You’ll work on some of the most interesting and intricate engine restorations and rebuilds in the UK. From pre-war to post-group B, all the way to modern classics – variety and challenge are guaranteed.
This position would suit someone with proven mechanical skills – whether from the classic, motorsport, or even motorcycle world – who has an eye for detail and a love of quality craftsmanship.

7. 45-hour week, Monday to Friday (no weekends)
8. Flexibility in hours: 07:30–17:00 or early shift trial (07:00–14:00)

Key Responsibilities:
15. Strip, inspect, assess, and rebuild historic and classic engines
16. Diagnose faults and report findings in detail
17. Set ignition and cam timing, measure compression ratios
18. Work from technical drawings and engine schematics
19. Maintain accurate build records and measurements
20. Operate specialist measuring tools and test equipment
21. Support engine dyno testing and running-in sessions
Requirements:
22. Hands-on experience in engine building – automotive, motorcycle or motorsport
23. Understanding of ignition systems (magneto/coil), carburettors
24. Able to manage own workload and hit deadlines
25. Superb attention to detail – this is a quality-first environment
26. A team player who values precision over volume
