The Department of Clinical Sciences at LSTM is at the forefront of research addressing health systems and delivery challenges in low-resource settings. We are seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Associate to support a high-impact study on multimorbidity and emergency care in sub-Saharan Africa. This full-time, fixed-term role from June 2025 to August 2025 may extend to August 2026, pending grant approval.

The successful candidate will contribute to the Multilink study, a pilot cluster-randomised trial in Malawi and Tanzania, evaluating a complex intervention for patients with multiple chronic diseases presenting to emergency care. The study includes health economic, quantitative, and qualitative process evaluation components. You will coordinate these workstreams and liaise with international partners to ensure high-quality research delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Provide project coordination across study domains, including data collection and analysis
2. Support development and delivery of data collection tools and training materials
3. Act as a communication focal point among partners
4. Coordinate with Malawi and Tanzania site teams for training and implementation
5. Analyze data, draft scientific outputs, and contribute to dissemination
6. Assist with reporting to funders and stakeholders
7. Develop and implement work plans in line with ethical approvals
8. Guide field researchers to ensure protocol compliance

This role is ideal for a postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in health systems, health economics, or social sciences, and excellent coordination and communication skills.

The candidate will possess:

* A PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g., health economics, health systems, social sciences)
* Experience in applied health systems research in low-income countries
* Familiarity with cluster RCT designs and implementation
* Experience with mixed methods research
* Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams
* Experience in drafting reports, publications, and presentations
* Knowledge of health systems or NCDs in low-resource settings (desirable)
* Strong interpersonal skills and proactive project management
* Willingness to travel to Malawi and Tanzania for short visits

For a full list of criteria, please refer to the detailed job description and person specification.

Additional benefits include:

* 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays and Christmas closure
* Occupational pension schemes
* Cycle to work scheme
* Discounted staff membership at the University of Liverpool Sports Centre
* Family-friendly policies
