Join our Rainham Operations Team as Plant Manager! In this role you will manage the daily plant operation, plant maintenance and leadership of the team; by leading by example as a visible presence on the plant floor whilst ensuring that all administrative duties within your remit are completed.Your primary goal is to organise staff members to ensure efficiencies and achieve a reasonable workflow throughout the day. Your position will also include directing, training, assisting and performance managing operational employees in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
* Management of onsite Maintenance staff, Team Leaders & Floor staff to include ongoing support & direction
* Management of floor stock, contingency and supplies including raising orders and maintaining stock levels
* Deliver information, updates on issues/concerns & metrics to Team Leaders for shift huddles
* Compile and report on all daily plant related metrics, identifying issues encountered and solutions
* Monitoring of incoming waste volumes to ensure we remain within permit and footprint capacities
* Completion of all H&S reporting including accident management, job observations & near misses
* MaintainX - monitor equipment, ensure completion of all checks, ensure faults are reported, monitored and closed, and statutory inspections are arranged and subsequently completed
* Ensure Waste Acceptance Monitoring checks are completed assessing incoming wastes for compliance and accuracy against HWCN’s, completion of Non-Conformances and escalation where required
* Spot checking all functions within your remit to ensure completion of all requirements relevant to their roles
* Ensure compliance with environmental permit
* Daily completion of Plant Site Diary
* Ensure the highest standards of housekeeping at all times
* Maintain and organise external training for Operational staff
* Control costs in line with budget for plant activities & join routine ESI & P & L review calls
* Proactively, promote, monitor and manage Sharpsmart culture throughout the plant
* Complete Shift/Weekend handovers as required
Candidate profile
* 3+ years plant/warehouse leadership experience (or relatable experience)
* Track record within hands on leadership skills
* Strong background in managing heavy machinery including maintenance awareness
* Proven experience in improving processes and procedures
* Works well with others and can motivate people you work with.
* Good communication skills both written and verbal with record-keeping discipline
* WAMITAB & H&S Qualification advantageous – both must be attained if not held
* 45 hour working week usually 8am - 6pm
