Within this role you will deliver insightful, high-quality communications that demonstrate transparency and accountability, whilst developing trusted relationships with the Executive Team, Board, and wider legal and consumer stakeholders

What you will be doing:
Delivering high-quality corporate publications (approximately 60% of role)
Lead the drafting and delivery (in collaboration with the Programme Management & Assurance Team) of the Legal Ombudsmans corporate publications including annual Business Plan and Budget consultations and final documents, the Annual Report and Accounts, and multi-year strategies as required.
Work with colleagues across LeO to ensure these publications capture our activities, impact and ambitions, creating a clear, consistent and coherent narrative.
To support the Head of Communications, Engagement and Impact and Chief Ombudsman in engaging with the Board ensuring their feedback is reflected in the content of corporate publications and supporting upward accountability to the Legal Services Board and Ministry of Justice as required.
Work collaboratively with colleagues responsible for LeOs strategic external engagement to ensure our narrative is clear and consistent including, where appropriate, supporting the development of consultation and engagement materials for use with the legal sector, consumer representatives and other stakeholders.
Work with colleagues responsible for finance, governance and assurance within LeO, as well as external audit and other official bodies, to ensure LeOs publications and their delivery meet formal accountability requirements.
Manage relevant third-party suppliers, including external copywriting and design support, to deliver content and publications to a high standard and on time.
Delivering engaging external communications (approximately 30% of role)
Lead the creation and co-ordination of content for LeOs social media channels and website that helps to raise LeOs profile and impact with key audiences, drawing on the support of the wider communications, engagement and impact team.
Work with the Strategic Engagement Manager to craft engaging external communications including media releases, consultation responses, blogs and contributions to other organisations channels that ensures LeOs insight shapes relevant policy, frameworks, and debates within and beyond legal services.
Work with the Learning and Insight Manager to translate LeOs insights and experience into compelling external communications. This includes annual complaints reports, regular insight and data publications, learning resources and other online content which supports the OLCs ambition that LeOs independent voice and experience lead to improvements in legal services.
Work with the Strategic Engagement Manager and the Learning and Insight Manager to measure the impact and success of our communications, engagement and impact work, learning from what works to iterate what we do.
As required, provide communications advice and support to LeOs Executive team to support their own effective communications and engagement with stakeholders.
Management and accountability (approximately 5% of role)
Play a management role in the Communications, Engagement, and Impact Team, including oversight of key projects and business plan deliverables, and coaching of insight & engagement officers supporting the teams cohesion, development and continuous improvement.
Play an active part in LeOs wider management team, including working with internal communications colleagues to promote understanding of LeOs corporate publications and communications and how they support the OLCs 2024-27 and subsequent strategies.
Support upward reporting, accountability and assurance where this relates to LeOs corporate publications and communications.

About you:
Strong background in communications, journalism, or public affairs, with proven experience in producing high-quality corporate publications and content.
Demonstrated ability to craft clear, consistent and compelling organisational narratives across publications, digital channels, and social media.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence and credibility to engage effectively with senior leaders, Board members, and external stakeholders.
Highly organised and detail-focused, able to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery to meet deadlines and quality standards.
Experience of working within complex or regulated environments, ensuring content aligns with formal accountability and governance requirements.
Collaborative and proactive, skilled at building strong working relationships across teams and functions.
Experience managing or coaching others, fostering professional growth and continuous improvement within a team.
Creative and adaptable, able to work calmly under pressure and respond flexibly to changing priorities.
