Superior Recruitment Group is proud to support one of our fantastic clients in their search for an experienced Senior Medical Instructor in Clydebank. The successful applicant will deliver medical-based courses across Maritime, Oil and Gas, and Renewables sectors. Working directly with the Team Lead, the individual will be responsible for course delivery and coordination, as well as maintaining approvals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Serve as a medical subject matter expert for developing and analyzing training materials and response processes, implementing improvements.
2. Deliver and assess learners against industry-approved courses (OPITO, STCW, GWO, HSE, and bespoke).
3. Coordinate internal and external resources for course delivery.
4. Support operational requirements of the Team Lead.
5. Maintain training locations, ensuring safety and tidiness.
6. Manage stock levels of consumables and process orders.
7. Conduct assessments of staff responses during drills and facilitate first aid training.
8. Mentor other instructors to enhance team proficiency and skills.
9. Monitor course delivery, progress, and quality of services.
10. Participate in reviews and audits of Quality and Safety Management Systems.
11. Maintain high CPD standards.
12. Uphold company values and culture.
13. Perform additional duties to support the wider business as needed.
Skills & Experience
1. Current medical registration with GMC or equivalent, NMC registration for RGN or similar, or registration with the Health Professionals Council.
2. Knowledge of instructional techniques and training methods, with at least IMO Training for Instructors certification.
3. Practical instructional and assessment experience.
4. Familiarity with medical stores onboard and operational environments.
5. FREC 4 certification or equivalent; FREC 3 considered.
6. Proven competencies in advanced first aid and pre-hospital emergency care.
7. Evidence of ongoing professional development.
8. Experience in the medical industry with relevant qualifications.
9. A1 Assessor or equivalent.
10. Minimum 5 years’ experience in nursing or similar role.
11. At least 3 years’ experience delivering medical courses.
12. Experience in creating course materials and conducting external audits (beneficial for MCA/OPITO/GWO).
13. Flexible in working schedules and shifts.
14. Knowledge of medical and first aid practices and equipment.
15. Experience in gaining and maintaining approvals.
16. Mentoring skills and computer proficiency.
