Position: Night Care Assistant
Responsible to: Manager of Home
General Description
1. To join together with other members of staff in order to provide the individual care required by each resident, making sure that they retain as much of their dignity and individuality as possible.
2. To assist in providing a happy and caring environment and be involved in the general activities of Florence Nursing Home
Main Responsibilities
1. To co-operate with all members of management and staff in the personal, physical, mental care and support of all the residents.
2. Be aware of and observe all health and safety and fire regulations of Florence Nursing
Home and report any hazards to the management.
1. Ensure safety and well being of residents and other members of staff at all times
2. Report for duty 10minutes before your shift starts, wearing uniform and be of smart appearance.
3. Give notice of absence due to illness or other reason as soon as possible.
4. Help residents who need assistance with washing, dressing, tioleting and undressing.
5. Help residents who have mobility or physical disabilities making best use of aids provided.
6. Assist with control of incontinence, providing comfort and dignity.
7. Help care for residents who are dying.
8. Assist in giving stimulation to residents by talking to them and by helping them to continue with hobbies and activities in Florence Nursing Home.
9. Answer the emergency bells, doors and telephone in a polite and responsive manner.
10. Make visitors welcome and offer refreshment and any assistance that they may require.
11. Read and write reports. Take part in staff meetings and attend any training sessions when required.
12. Make and change beds, tidy rooms, do light cleaning and empty and clean commodes when necessary.
13. Remove and replace napkins and table cloths in dining rooms, clean conservatory washing wooden floor, polishing surfaces in the lounges also. Ensure all public toilet areas are clean and clean hand towels are placed in toilets.
14. Ensure pads are taken out with rubbish to appropriate bins.
15. Key worker to with manager to draw up and review care plans and attend care reviews when required.
16. Report any suspicion of abuse to manager immediately.
17. When caring for residents make sure you take into account their social, emotional and physical needs.
18. Distribute medication as per the procedure laid down by Florence Nursing Home
19. Ensure kitchen chores are completed
20. Any other jobs that are required to ensure the smooth running of Florence Nursing
Home.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: £12.50-£12.82 per hour
