Design Manager – Refurbishment & Recladding
Hatfield (4 days office/site based) – Competitive Salary Package.
Overview
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Design Manager to join a Tier 1 contractor delivering major refurbishment, fire remediation, and recladding schemes across occupied residential and higher‑risk buildings. This role will involve leading design from pre‑construction through to delivery, managing consultant teams, driving technical coordination, and ensuring compliance with the latest Building Safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Manage the design process from tender through to project completion.
- Coordinate consultants, subcontractors, and client teams.
- Lead design meetings and technical reviews.
- Manage design programmes and track deliverables.
- Review drawings and ensure buildability and compliance.
- Support commercial and operational teams during delivery.
- Ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act and HRB requirements.
- Manage design changes, RFIs, and technical queries.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working for a Tier 1 contractor.
- Strong refurbishment / residential background.
- Recladding and fire remediation experience essential.
- Knowledge of the Building Safety Act / HRBs.
- Experience managing design through pre‑construction and delivery stages.
- Relevant construction / technical qualification.
Location & Attendance
The role is based out of Hatfield with a mix of office and site attendance across projects.
