Legal Counsel
Permanent position based in Edinburgh. Salary: £70,000 - £75,000, depending on your experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Providing straightforward legal advice on disputes and complaints, helping colleagues understand risks and next steps.
- Supporting the resolution of issues before they escalated to Court, the Ombudsman or the Pensions Regulator.
- Assisting with cases that progress externally, working with senior team members to manage risk and outcomes.
- Interpreting regulatory guidance (including from the Pensions Regulator) and helping the business apply it in practice.
- Supporting the instruction and management of external legal advisers where needed.
- Representing the business in meetings with external bodies such as the Ombudsman or regulators, with support from the wider team.
Qualifications
- Qualified solicitor or barrister (Scotland and/or England).
- Experience in dispute resolution, litigation or complaints handling (ideally within financial services or pensions, but not essential).
- A good understanding of contract law and the regulatory environment.
- Some experience or exposure to working with regulators such as the Pensions Regulator.
- Strong written skills, with the ability to draft clear and accurate legal documents.
- Confidence communicating with a range of stakeholders, with a practical and approachable style.
- Good judgement and a willingness to learn, with the ability to break down complex issues into clear advice.
