Role Overview:
Location: JD Group Head Office, Bury, Greater Manchester. The role involves leading the team to deliver channel sales, markdowns, stock, intake, and profit plans, as well as driving business change to meet company objectives.
Key Duties/Responsibilities
Strategy (10%):
* Review previous season with the Buyer and document lessons learned.
* Develop and present departmental strategy with the Buyer.
* Support team development, internal promotions, and succession planning.
Plan (35%):
* Approve proposed grading for assortment planning.
* Review and apply seasonal plans at various levels to meet overall targets.
* Collaborate with the Buyer on quarterly range plans to optimize product mix.
* Participate in selection meetings with Buyers and suppliers.
* Plan pre-scheduling activities in conjunction with Assistant Merchandisers.
Stock (5%):
* Monitor ratios for all buys with Assistant Merchandiser.
* Ensure buy matches the plan and manage intake at category and line levels.
Trade (50%):
* Review weekly trading performance and KPIs, identifying issues and corrective actions.
* Propose and implement actions to recover risks and maximize opportunities.
* Manage forecasts, commitments, markdowns, and sell-out dates.
* Foster collaborative relationships across functions including Online, Store Operations, Visuals, Marketing, Finance, DC, and Stores.
