An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Client Tech Analyst to join award-winning manufacturer Liniar Ltd, based in Denby, Derbyshire - a subsidiary of the US-based Quanex group. Liniar is an industry leading PVCu extrusion company, designing and supplying a large portfolio of PVCu and aluminium profiles and products to a nationwide customer base of specialist window and door manufacturers, housebuilders, decking installers, landscapers and trade outlets. Purpose of the role: In this role, the Senior Client Tech Analyst will serve as a support lead accountable for the administration of office and manufacturing computer equipment, support the client user base, provide on-call support and will be responsible for allocation of hardware, software and supplies as well as the enforcement and implementation of IT policies and procedures, and SOX GCC controls. In addition, they will manage projects in the administration of local desktop software, hardware, as well as support the organization's local area network and assist with wide area network responsibilities. This role will work independently with production management to design, plan, implement, and maintain critical manufacturing technologies. Main Tasks & Responsibilities: Configures, installs, monitors, and maintains office and manufacturing hardware, software and network peripherals; supports mobile workforce including current versions of Windows, MS Office, ERP and manufacturing/engineering software products. Conduct research to understand, explain and resolve technology issues. Communicate updates to users that have been affected by a problem. Absorb and escalate grievances. Follow up with users after problems have been resolved. Provides consultation to IT users for all aspects of end-user computing and desktop-based LAN systems and software. Provides technical support and guidance through Tier 2 support and manages work with Network Administrators, Analysts, and vendors to resolve Tier 3 issues. Evaluates, maintains, modifies desktop application packages, and participates in the testing and evaluation of new desktop packages and implements prototypes. Understanding of a wide variety of technical issues associated with LAN and manufacturing technologies to effectively communicate and lead technical assistance. Responsible for documenting solutions to problems and developing end-user guidelines. Provide technical training to users as needed. Maintain critical manufacturing IT equipment including label printers, wireless scanners, and process equipment. Perform user equipment upgrades including transfer of pertinent data from old hardware to new hardware. Tests and ensures user equipment is correctly configured and operational. Makes recommendations to the business on selection of hardware and software products to address requirements. Facilitate and maintain relationships with IT vendors. Coordinate referrals to technical or professional service personnel depending on the repair, training, service, or software issue. Responsible for managing inventory of equipment and spare parts. Initiate IT purchases following approved budgets using discretion to keep day-to-day operations running. Setup equipment for proper configuration per corporate direction. Coordinate with IT Leadership to assist with annual budget and tracking/execution of yearly budget. Manage Service Now support ticket queues and utilize the tracking software to present recommendations on improvements. Responsible as part of the team for support of all region sites. Lead IT projects as determined. Coordinate time at remote locations as needed. This position includes a requirement for occasional weekend work and travel to operational sites, based on business needs. Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned. Key Skills & Knowledge: Excellent verbal, written, planning, analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills are required. Must be self-motivated and able to identify and resolve issues without direct supervision. Must be able to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel. Must be able to manage multiple tasks with deadlines and be able to independently establish priorities. Must have a thorough knowledge range of computer networking systems and languages, knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise, and knowledge of other available computing and/or network hardware and peripheral equipment. Have the ability to install, configure, and maintain personal computers, networks, and/or related hardware and software. Knowledge and ability to enforce local copyright laws as they pertain to the use of computer software. Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field preferred. IT support experience with desktop software, hardware products, and problem solving/troubleshooting. Degree may be waived in lieu of appropriate experience.
