Clinical Scientist in Radiotherapy Physics

There is an opportunity for a Clinical Scientist to join the radiotherapy physics team at the Arden Centre Coventry for a period of 12 months to provide maternity cover. You will work across major department areas, including brachytherapy, dosimetry, quality control, and treatment planning.

Key clinic details: five Elekta linacs, an orthovoltage treatment machine, an Elekta HDR brachytherapy after‑loader, Agile heads, cone beam CT and a growing SABR service. The department collaborates with the University of Warwick and Coventry University, encouraging active research participation.

We accept qualified Clinical Scientists, the last to complete training, or less experienced candidates for a lower band. We consider part‑time, flexi‑time, and limited working‑from‑home arrangements. Internal secondment is possible; successful applicants must obtain line‑manager approval. Post holders must provide an immunisation and vaccination report.


Responsibilities

* Provide scientific expertise and clinical technical services for patients undergoing cancer treatment.
* When required, contribute to treatment planning, mould room work, and machine quality control.
* Plan, organise, and prioritise own workload, adapting schedules to urgent requests.
* Discuss complex aspects of patient treatment and equipment performance with clinical staff and manufacturers.
* Initiate and participate in research and development, supervising staff and students where required.
* Operate within professional guidelines and departmental procedures with discretion; seek guidance from colleagues or the Head of Radiotherapy Physics.
