The Role – SEMH Teaching Assistant
We are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary school in Bexley that supports students aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs. Many pupils also present with additional challenges such as ADHD, ASD, ODD, and speech and language difficulties.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, helping them stay engaged in learning, regulating behaviour, and building positive relationships. You’ll play a key role in promoting a calm and structured environment, supporting emotional wellbeing, and encouraging academic progress.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with children or young people in SEMH or similar settings, and will be confident managing challenging behaviour with empathy, consistency, and a trauma-informed approach.
