Vice President, Human Resources, The Rinks
Pay Details:
The annual base salary range for this position in California is $220,000 to $275,000 per year. The starting pay for the successful candidate depends on various job-related factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education/training, internal value, peer equity, external market demands, and organizational considerations.
The Vice President, Human Resources for The Rinks is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of human resources across The Rinks Development Program, a dynamic and growing network of eight hockey and skating facilities throughout Southern California. This executive-level role ensures a best-in-class employee experience across all locations, while advancing the organization’s culture, talent, and operational HR excellence in alignment with The Rinks' local identity and the broader organizational goals of OCVIBE and affiliated entities.
The VP will serve as a strategic and operational leader, partnering closely with local site leadership and central HR functions to develop and implement comprehensive HR strategies. This includes talent acquisition and retention, employee relations, workforce development, performance management, compensation and benefits support, compliance, and organizational effectiveness. The ideal candidate brings a hands-on, collaborative leadership style and a passion for cultivating a people-first culture across a highly service-oriented and community-focused environment.
Responsibilities
1. Serve as the senior-most HR leader for The Rinks, responsible for developing and executing a localized HR strategy that reflects the unique needs, programs, and employee populations at each facility
2. Oversee all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including recruiting, onboarding, training, engagement, development, and offboarding
3. Partner with operational leaders to address workforce planning, staffing levels, employee relations, and performance management
4. Ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations at local, state, and federal levels
5. Serve as a key advisor to The Rinks’ leadership team on organizational structure, workforce effectiveness, and team development
6. Collaborate with corporate HR leaders on enterprise-wide HR initiatives, including compensation programs, benefits administration, DEI, learning and development, and HRIS implementation
7. Lead and mentor a team of HR professionals assigned to The Rinks, fostering a culture of accountability, trust, service, and continuous improvement
8. Promote employee engagement and a positive work culture through proactive communication, recognition, and issue resolution
9. Analyze HR metrics and trends to inform decision-making and support continuous organizational improvement
Skills
10. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field required
11. Advanced degree (MBA, MHR, JD, or equivalent) preferred
12. Minimum of 10–12 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing HR operations across multiple sites or business units
13. Experience in hospitality, recreation, sports, entertainment, or similarly customer-facing, service-driven environments preferred
14. Proven experience developing and executing strategic HR initiatives that align with business goals
15. Demonstrated success leading HR teams in a dynamic, fast-paced, and highly collaborative environment
16. In-depth understanding of HR best practices, employment law, and regulatory compliance
17. Strong knowledge of talent management, employee engagement, organizational development, and compensation principles
18. Familiarity with workforce operations in recreational, service, or youth-program-focused environments
19. Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust, influence outcomes, and foster collaboration across diverse teams
20. Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making capabilities
21. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to tailor messaging to a range of audiences
22. High level of proficiency in HR systems, data analytics, and process improvement
23. Able to serve as a visible, accessible, and trusted HR leader across all Rinks locations
24. Able to balance strategic vision with operational execution in a fast-moving, service-oriented setting
25. Able to coach and develop others, fostering a culture of learning and high performance
26. Able to manage sensitive situations with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment
