The Invited Reviews and Accreditation Officer plays a pivotal role in supporting the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of surgical education and patient care. This full-time, permanent position sits within the Education Development and Accreditation Section and focuses on coordinating the delivery of the College’s Invited Reviews and Accreditation services.

You will be responsible for managing the end-to-end process of invited reviews, liaising with NHS Trusts, Health Boards, clinical reviewers, and internal stakeholders to ensure each review is delivered efficiently, transparently, and in line with robust governance frameworks. The role also involves drafting high-quality, evidence-based reports, organising site visits, and supporting the development of policies and procedures that underpin the College’s quality assurance activities.

Alongside the reviews function, you will support the planning and administration of accreditation visits, contributing to the College’s efforts to uphold professional standards, strengthen governance across healthcare organisations, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong organisational skills, experience in coordinating multi-stakeholder projects, and a keen interest in healthcare quality assurance. Working closely with senior clinicians and education professionals, you will play an important part in safeguarding patient safety and supporting excellence in surgical practice.

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level or possess equivalent relevant experience, with a background in healthcare administration, quality assurance, or project management considered advantageous. You will have demonstrable experience in coordinating complex, multi-stakeholder projects, ideally within a healthcare, regulatory, or academic setting.

Strong organisational and time management skills are essential, as is the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes to tight deadlines. You will have proven experience in drafting clear, evidence-based reports, and a sound understanding of governance, quality assurance principles, and information governance requirements.

Confidence in engaging with senior stakeholders, including clinicians and healthcare managers, will be important, together with excellent written and verbal communication skills and a high level of professionalism when handling sensitive information.

Knowledge of healthcare review, accreditation, or audit processes will be highly valued, alongside familiarity with clinical governance frameworks and GDPR requirements. Experience in developing training materials or supporting professional development initiatives would also be beneficial.

Dates of interviews will be confirmed in due course. Candidates who have been shortlisted for interview will be contacted in the first instance by email.

The application is a tool for helping us to shortlist candidates for interview and as a basis for the interview itself. Any decision to shortlist you for interview will be based solely upon the information you supply on your application.
