Job Description:
Purpose of the Role
To provide high-quality, child-centred support to children and young people within their own homes and local communities. The role involves delivering practical assistance, personal care, emotional support and outreach activities to promote independence, wellbeing and positive outcomes.

Deputy Manager, Registered Manager, and Responsible Individual
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Care and Support
* Deliver high-quality, individualised support to children and young people within their own homes and in community settings.
* Provide personal care where required, including support with washing, dressing, toileting, medication (where trained), and promoting dignity and independence at all times.
* Support young people with daily living tasks such as meal preparation, budgeting, household skills and maintaining a safe living environment.
* Provide outreach support, accompanying young people to appointments, education settings, social activities and community-based opportunities.
* Work in line with relevant legislation and guidance, including the Children Act 1989, National Minimum Standards and safeguarding frameworks.
Emotional and Behavioural Support
* Build positive, professional and nurturing relationships with young people based on trust, respect and unconditional positive regard.
* Provide consistent emotional support during times of stress or crisis.
* Promote positive behaviour by setting clear boundaries, challenging unacceptable behaviour appropriately and reinforcing pro-social conduct.
* Support young people to understand and manage their emotions and develop self-regulation skills.
Care Planning and Key Working
* Act as a Key Worker or Co-Worker for designated young people.
* Ensure Care Plans and Risk Assessments are implemented effectively and reviewed regularly to reflect changing needs.
* Contribute to planning meetings, reviews and multi-agency discussions.
* Advocate for young people to ensure their voices are heard and their wishes considered in decisions about their lives.
* Empower young people to actively participate in decision-making and goal setting.
Education and Development
* Support young people to engage in education, training or employment opportunities.
* Provide support within educational settings where required.
* Encourage participation in hobbies, interests and extracurricular activities to promote confidence and social inclusion.
* Support the development of independence skills and preparation for adulthood where appropriate.
Recording and Reporting
* Maintain accurate, up-to-date and professional records of all work undertaken.
* Complete daily logs, incident reports, financial records and written reports as required.
* Share relevant information appropriately to safeguard and promote the welfare of young people.
Working as Part of a Team
* Work collaboratively with colleagues, families and external professionals.
* Attend and actively contribute to team meetings and supervision sessions.
* Communicate effectively to ensure consistency of care and support.
* Provide informal support to colleagues and contribute to a positive team culture.
* Adhere to all organisational policies and procedures, including safeguarding and whistleblowing policies.
General Responsibilities
* Attend young people's meetings and reviews as required.
* Transport young people as part of outreach duties (subject to holding a valid driving licence and organisational procedures).
* Participate in mandatory and role-specific training, maintaining an up-to-date training profile.
* Ensure accurate handling of financial transactions related to young people's activities.
* Promote and maintain health, safety and wellbeing for young people, colleagues and yourself in accordance with Health and Safety policies.
* Undertake additional duties appropriate to the role to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Special Conditions
* This role requires flexible working, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, Bank Holidays and participation in a sleep-in and/or on-call rota where required.
* Staff may be required to adjust rotas to meet service needs, including emergency cover.
* The post holder must comply with Health and Safety requirements and report concerns promptly.
* This role is subject to an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check. Any changes in circumstances that may affect this must be reported immediately to your line manager
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Pay: £12.50-£13.50 per hour
Expected hours: 8 – 40 per week
